Walmart Mexico Launches Fast 30-Minute Delivery Service

According to foreign media reports, Walmart Mexico has officially launched a new fast commerce initiative, aiming to reduce its delivery times to just 30 minutes.

Currently, Walmart offers a "Pronto" delivery service with a 90-minute window. In a bid to improve efficiency and attract younger consumers, the company is rolling out technological and logistical upgrades to enable ultra-fast 30-minute delivery. Ignacio Caride, President and CEO of Walmart Mexico, stated that speed is becoming a key competitive factor in retail. Walmart is leveraging its vast network of stores and delivery infrastructure to accelerate the implementation of this service.

Caride mentioned that the initiative was inspired by successful models in markets like India and China, where some services complete deliveries within just 15 minutes. He emphasized that compared to the U.S. standard of 3 to 5 business days for delivery, Walmart Mexico's strong local logistics capabilities position it to meet the growing demand for instant shopping.

As more consumers—especially younger generations—seek speed and convenience in their shopping experience, Walmart aims to capture a larger market share. Caride believes that fast commerce will be a core driver of future growth, enhancing not only customer satisfaction but also the competitiveness of Walmart's online retail segment.

To support this rapid delivery model, Walmart Mexico is also expanding its e-commerce platform. In 2024, the company introduced around 800 new premium SKUs, diversifying both product range and quality to meet the needs of various customer segments. In the previous year, Walmart Mexico's e-commerce business grew by 21%, with current online sales maintaining an annual growth rate of nearly 20%.

According to official figures, Mexico's e-commerce net sales reached 48.4 billion pesos in 2024, a 19.5% year-over-year increase. Walmart Mexico stated that its strategy focuses not only on delivery speed but also on elevating product quality and expanding its premium offering. By improving both its logistics capabilities and merchandise structure, Walmart aims to become the top choice for both online and offline shoppers in Mexico.
