New Container Charges to Be Implemented at UK Ports Starting in 2025

Recently, Maersk released a new announcement detailing upcoming changes to import container fees in the UK. Starting January 1, 2025, several major UK ports will implement new charges for imported containers. Related fees for customs clearance services will increase, with specific charges varying by port and fee category.

Here are the details of the new charges at major ports:

• Most ports will impose a UK port storage fee ranging from £1.85 to £2.88.
• Some ports (such as Bristol, Liverpool, London Gateway, and Southampton) will charge between £10.30 and £63.51 for port security/ISPS fees.
• Port infrastructure charges, such as those at Greenock and Southampton, will range from £17.55 to £24.69, depending on the port and type of facility.
• Certain ports (like Greenock, Liverpool, and London Gateway) will apply fees based on the number of entries, ranging from £16.41 to £27.74.
• Ports such as Southampton and London Gateway will implement energy adjustment fees, ranging from £4.10 to £19.75.

The above charges will take effect on January 1, 2025, and may be subject to adjustment based on market changes. All relevant fees will be confirmed at the time of shipment and reflected in subsequent billing.

It is important to note that Felixstowe's charges will be announced before April 1, 2025, and UK port storage fees will begin to be implemented only after confirmation.
