eBay Extends Order Cancellation Window for Easier Process

According to recent reports from foreign media, eBay has announced a simplification of the order cancellation process, allowing buyers to request cancellations on their own before the item is shipped.
eBay has removed the previous 1-hour cancellation limit. Now, buyers can use the "Cancel Order" button as long as the seller has not yet shipped the item. Once the order is marked as shipped, however, the cancellation request process will no longer be accessible. Sellers will have 3 days to accept or decline the request; if no action is taken, the request will be automatically denied after 3 days.
eBay stated that this change aims to simplify the cancellation process for both buyers and sellers, creating a “more user-friendly experience, building trust between buyers and sellers, and encouraging repeat purchases.” In testing, the new feature only led to a slight increase in cancellation requests (the overall average cancellation rate remained at 1%, rising from 0.9 to 1.1 per 100 transactions), while buyer satisfaction improved by 25%.
This policy will take effect on August 28th. At that time, when a buyer requests to cancel an order, sellers will receive a notification in their eBay messages or can view the detailed order request through Seller Hub > Orders > Cancellations or My eBay > Selling > Orders.
