Amazon U.S. Alters Shipping & Handling Times for U.S. Orders

On August 29th, Amazon U.S. announced changes to the shipping and handling time settings for orders shipped from outside the United States.
According to the announcement, to ensure the accuracy of the promised delivery date, Amazon will implement the following changes:
- Shipping Time Settings: Starting from October 25th, the shipping time options for orders shipped from China to the U.S. mainland (including all U.S. states except Hawaii, Alaska, and U.S. territories) will be adjusted to 2-4 days and 14-20 days. The maximum shipping time will be reduced from 28 days to 20 days. If a seller currently has a manually set shipping time of 14-28 days, it will be automatically updated to 14-20 days.
- Handling Time Settings: The automatic handling time will set more accurate handling times for SKUs shipped from warehouses outside the U.S. The automatic handling time will be based on the time it has historically taken to process and hand over orders to the carrier for each SKU. If a seller does not have a shipping history for a particular SKU, the manually set handling time will be used.
The announcement also noted that starting from October 25th, to improve accuracy, if a seller’s manually configured handling time is slower by two days or more than the actual time, the system will enable automatic handling time, which cannot be disabled. If necessary, sellers can apply for manual handling for custom, large, or heavy SKUs.
Additionally, to help sellers maintain a healthy account status, if automatic handling time is enabled, the late shipment rate will be protected from being negatively impacted by delayed shipments.
