Amazon Launches Grocery Promotion & Amazon Saver Brand

Recently, Amazon introduced a new promotion within its Amazon Fresh grocery business, aimed at providing Prime members with more affordable options. In addition, the company has unveiled a new private label grocery brand called Amazon Saver, designed to meet the growing demands of consumers.

This promotion includes an exclusive Amazon Fresh Prime offer, where consumers can enjoy up to 50% off on 8 to 15 rotating items, such as fresh produce and kitchen staples, both in-store and online.

The newly launched Amazon Saver brand offers most products priced under $5, further strengthening Amazon’s competitiveness in the private label market. This brand complements Amazon's existing private label offerings, such as Amazon Kitchen and 365 by Whole Foods Market.

Furthermore, Amazon is expanding its third-party grocery delivery services. Consumers in Seattle can now order same-day grocery delivery from local merchant Metropolitan Market via the Amazon Marketplace. Additionally, Amazon is adding six new grocery delivery partner locations, expanding into the mid-Atlantic chain Wis Markets.

Despite Amazon’s ongoing efforts to increase its presence in the grocery sector, it still lags behind its competitor Walmart. According to recent data, as of Q2 2024, Walmart holds a 20% market share in consumer grocery spending, while Amazon’s share is only 2.7%.

Market research also indicates that consumer interest in private label brands is rising. Economic pressures are pushing consumers to focus more on price and value, with younger generations being more willing to try different brands. Amazon's latest initiatives are aligned with this trend, aiming to further enhance its competitiveness in the grocery market.
