Shopee Malaysia Raises Marketplace Commissions to 15%

Effective July 16, 2025, Shopee Malaysia will revise commission rates for non-Mall sellers, with category-based tiers that can reach up to 15% before the 8% SST is added. Because these charges directly impact pricing and margins, sellers should review how category mapping and participation in Shopee’s Cashback Programme affect their rate, then refresh profit models, promotions, and fulfillment plans accordingly.

Policy at a glance

Shopee’s adjustment covers electronics, fashion, FMCG, and home & living, with commissions deducted automatically from the seller’s payable balance. Non-Mall sellers are local sellers who trade on Shopee but are not part of Shopee Mall. New sellers start paying commission once either:

• their first listed product has been live for over 120 days, or
• they have completed over 100 orders.

Rate structure and conditions

The commission rate depends on the product category and whether the seller participates in the Cashback Programme. An additional 8% SST applies. Reference ranges:

• Electronics — With Cashback: 5%–10%; Without Cashback: 9%–14%
• Fashion — With Cashback: 9%–11%; Without Cashback: 13%–15%
• FMCG — With Cashback: 0%–10%; Without Cashback: 0%–14%
• Home & Living — With Cashback: 6.5%–8%; Without Cashback: 10.5%–12%

Certain sub-categories and special types—such as educational materials and virtual goods—may receive fixed or special commission concessions.

How commission is calculated

Commission is charged on the net item price after subtracting the seller’s own discounts and seller vouchers, multiplied by the applicable category rate (and then 8% SST is applied to the commission amount).

• Example (single category):

Electronics item priced at RM100, with a RM10 seller discount and a RM30 seller voucher applied, and the seller participates in the Cashback Programme at a 5.5% rate. The cited final commission is RM4.16.

• Example (mixed categories):

If a buyer purchases an electronics item and a home & living item in the same order, each item’s commission is calculated separately on its own net price and category rate, then summed. The cited total commission is RM7.78.

FMCG sub-category detail

Within FMCG, personal care, hair care, cosmetics, and fragrances generally range 5.5%–10% with Cashback and 9%–14% without. For mother & baby items—such as milk powder, baby food, diapers, and care products—the range is typically 5.5%–8% with Cashback and 9.5%–12% without.

Other important notes

• Commission is an additional fee, separate from existing transaction and service fees.
• A completed order means the buyer has paid and confirmed receipt; cancellations, returns, and to-ship orders do not count.
• Sellers can review commission details in Seller Centre → My Income → My Invoices and may contact Customer Service to appeal if they believe a fee was charged in error.
