Amazon Invests €1B in Belgium to Launch Same-Day Delivery

Amazon plans to invest €1 billion (about $1.16 billion) in Belgium between 2025 and 2027 to expand Belgium logistics infrastructure and deepen its partner network—laying the groundwork to launch same-day delivery nationwide within months. The investment is designed to boost supply-chain efficiency so shoppers who order earlier in the day can receive their items that very evening.

Part of the funding will go toward upgrading and expanding fulfillment assets. Amazon already operates a logistics site in Antwerp and will add more automation in Hamme while hiring additional staff. The company currently employs roughly 400 people in Belgium and says it has invested about €800 million locally over the past decade.

As it scales same-day delivery, Amazon plans to maintain its collaboration with national postal operator Bpost while diversifying last-mile options to increase speed, flexibility, and redundancy. The broader build-out is expected to shorten cut-off times and improve delivery reliability during peak periods.

Beyond infrastructure, Amazon will channel resources into supporting local SMEs, including improved operational guidance and data analytics tools to help Belgian sellers grow cross-border sales. The company says these programs should strengthen the marketplace's overall competitiveness while helping small brands reach new customers abroad.

In parallel to the logistics push, Amazon has expanded Amazon Haul, a low-price storefront, to France and Spain following earlier launches in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Mexico, and Australia. Amazon Haul spans about 30 product categories—from apparel and shoes to beauty—capping item prices at €20. Most listings are priced under €10, with some starting at just €1. Standard delivery for Haul orders can take up to two weeks, shipping costs €3.5, and orders of €20 or more ship free. Amazon notes that all Haul items undergo safety and compliance checks and can be returned at pickup points within 14 days of receipt.
