USPS Resumes Canada Postal Express Services After Strike Resolution

On January 6, 2025, the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced that it would resume mail and parcel deliveries to Canada. This follows the resolution of a labor strike and subsequent backlog of packages at Canada postal strike, which had disrupted services since mid-November 2024.

The Canada postal strike, which began in November, was resolved by mid-December, allowing Canada Post employees to return to work. However, due to the significant backlog of parcels, Canada Post took several weeks to process and deliver the delayed shipments.

USPS confirmed that Canada Post has now cleared all packages affected by the strike, and international shipping to Canada is once again fully operational. This includes services for both business clients, retail customers, and individuals sending parcels and mail through online systems.

According to a CBC report in December 2024, the USPS canada strike was triggered by disputes over compensation and working conditions, with the labor stoppage severely affecting mail delivery in Canada. The disruption caused a major impact on both businesses and consumers, particularly during the critical holiday shipping season.

This canada postal strike, which occurred during one of the busiest times of the year for shipping, marked an unprecedented challenge in recent Canadian postal history. With so many consumers relying on online shopping, the delay created substantial difficulties for both businesses and their customers.

Following the end of the strike, eBay announced that it would adjust seller protection measures and expected delivery times for Canadian sellers based on the scale of the backlog. eBay also informed U.S. sellers about the situation, reassuring them that those using eBay’s international shipping services would automatically qualify for compensation protections in cases of delays or non-delivery. Additionally, international shipping would not affect the seller’s performance metrics.
