Shopee to Raise Seller Commission Fees & Sales Tax from March 6, 2025

Recently, Shopee announced that it will adjust seller commission fees on its platform starting March 6, 2025. While the changes are not expected to differ significantly from the current commission rates, they will primarily target products in categories such as fashion and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

According to Shopee's latest announcement, the new commission fees will be applied 120 days after a seller first lists their products. The fees will vary based on the seller's product category, stock keeping unit (SKU), and participation in Shopee’s cashback programs. The commission is calculated based on the item price, after deducting any seller discounts or coupons.

Commission rates will differ by product category, and the adjustments vary across categories. Specifically, commissions for electronics, fashion, FMCG, and lifestyle products will see an increase.

For electronics, sellers not participating in the refund program will face a commission fee of 8%-12%, while those who are part of the program will retain the same commission rate. Fashion product sellers who do not participate in the refund program will incur a 12% commission fee, while those participating will pay 8%. For FMCG products, sellers involved in the refund program will pay a commission of 0%-9%, while those not participating will face rates ranging from 0%-13%. Lastly, for lifestyle products, participating sellers will see no change, while non-participants will be charged a commission of 9.5%-11%.

In addition, an 8% sales tax will be added to the commission fees and directly deducted from the seller’s earnings. This tax will apply only to completed orders. Sellers can view their commission fees for completed orders through the "My Orders" section in the Shopee Seller Center.

Shopee has stated that the new commission fees will be adjusted based on the seller’s product category and participation in various programs. While full details have not yet been disclosed, this adjustment will apply exclusively to local sellers on the Shopee Marketplace platform, and will not affect Shopee Mall sellers.
