Amazon ZAZ8 Opens a Faster Delivery Chapter in Spain

Amazon is preparing to open a new chapter in its Spanish logistics operations.

On September 7, 2026, the company is scheduled to begin operating ZAZ8, its first Distribution Center in Spain. Located in La Muela, Zaragoza, the facility will focus on storing high-demand everyday products and moving inventory closer to the customers who are most likely to order them.

Rather than functioning as a traditional fulfillment center, the Amazon ZAZ8 distribution center will act as an intermediate inventory hub. Its purpose is to keep frequently purchased products readily available and continuously replenish other Amazon facilities across the country.

The strategy reflects Amazon’s broader effort to strengthen its logistics network in Spain while supporting faster same-day and next-day deliveries.

A €100 Million Investment in Zaragoza

Amazon has invested more than €100 million in the new facility, including approximately €30 million used to renovate and prepare the existing building for its new role.

The center is located in the Centrovía industrial park in La Muela and covers more than 30,000 square meters. Amazon expects the operation to create up to 600 jobs within its first three years.

ZAZ8 will open gradually rather than reaching full capacity immediately. According to recent reports, the facility is expected to begin operations with around 100 employees. That number could increase to approximately 300 during the Black Friday and Christmas shopping season before eventually reaching 600.

Recruitment is already underway for warehouse operations, human resources, administration, engineering, information technology, finance, and workplace safety positions.

Amazon Gives Its La Muela Facility a New Purpose

The ZAZ8 opening also marks Amazon’s return to a logistics site that once had a very different future.

Amazon originally planned to use the La Muela location for a much larger returns facility covering approximately 140,000 square meters. The earlier project was expected to involve an investment of around €70 million and create as many as 1,500 jobs, but the opening was suspended in 2023.

The company has now repurposed part of the site around a smaller but more targeted operating model. Instead of handling product returns, ZAZ8 will concentrate on fast-moving inventory and regional replenishment.

This shift illustrates how quickly e-commerce logistics strategies can change. Warehouse size alone is no longer the defining factor. Inventory location, product turnover, transportation links, and the ability to replenish multiple facilities efficiently can be just as important.

Everyday Essentials Will Be the Priority

ZAZ8 will not store every type of product sold on Amazon.

The center will specialize in frequently purchased essentials such as personal care products, baby food, infant formula, baby wipes, nutritional supplements, and other household necessities.

These products usually have predictable and recurring demand. By positioning them closer to consumers, Amazon can reduce the distance inventory needs to travel after an order is placed.

Amazon describes the facility as an additional regional inventory layer. ZAZ8 will maintain strategic stock and supply other logistics centers throughout Spain, helping keep popular products available across the wider network.

This approach could support faster Amazon delivery in Spain, particularly for products that customers regularly expect to receive on the same day or the following day.

Why La Muela Is Strategically Important

La Muela sits just outside Zaragoza and provides access to transportation routes connecting several major Spanish markets.

The center is expected to receive approximately 35 truckloads of inventory each day. Some products stored in Aragón will be transferred through Barcelona before continuing to other parts of Spain.

This means ZAZ8 will serve more than customers in Zaragoza or the wider Aragón region. It will also support inventory availability across Amazon’s national network.

From a supply chain perspective, the model helps separate two important functions. Large inbound facilities can continue receiving and processing inventory, while regional distribution hubs such as ZAZ8 position fast-moving products closer to their next destination.

That additional layer can reduce replenishment delays, improve inventory availability, and give Amazon greater flexibility when regional demand changes.

Aragón Becomes a Stronger Amazon Logistics Hub

ZAZ8 will become Amazon’s fourth operations facility in Zaragoza.

The company already operates an Inbound Cross Dock center, an Amazon Fresh facility, and a delivery station in the area. Amazon currently reports more than 1,000 employees across its Aragón operations, a workforce that is expected to grow further as ZAZ8 expands.

The region is also becoming increasingly important to Amazon’s third-party seller ecosystem.

More than 400 small and medium-sized businesses in Aragón currently sell through Amazon. Together, they sold more than three million products in 2024 and generated over €35 million in exports, representing year-over-year export growth of more than 50%.

Amazon also reports that over 75% of these businesses export their products internationally.

These figures show that the growth of the Amazon logistics network in Spain is not limited to warehouses and delivery vehicles. It is also supporting local sellers that use the marketplace to reach customers outside their home region and beyond Spain.

Faster Delivery Is Driving Amazon’s Investment

The ZAZ8 investment comes as Amazon continues to accelerate delivery speeds in Spain.

In 2025, Amazon delivered more than 190 million products to Spanish Prime members on the same day or the following day. Globally, the company completed more than 13 billion same-day and next-day deliveries during the year.

Amazon also reported that Prime members in Spain saved an average of €120 on fast, free delivery in 2025—more than twice the cost of an annual Prime subscription.

Everyday essentials are playing a growing role in that delivery volume. Household products, personal care items, food, and frequently reordered goods are particularly well suited to a regional inventory model because their demand is easier to anticipate.

ZAZ8 is therefore not simply an expansion of warehouse capacity. It is part of an inventory strategy built around placing the right products in the right region before customers place their orders.

What the ZAZ8 Opening Means for Amazon Sellers

For Amazon sellers, the new center reinforces the importance of reliable inventory planning.

Faster delivery promises depend on products being available inside Amazon’s network. A strategically located distribution center cannot improve delivery performance when inventory arrives late, stock levels are too low, or inbound shipments miss critical seasonal replenishment windows.

Sellers supplying the Spanish market should pay close attention to:

• Manufacturing and cargo-ready dates
• International shipping lead times
• Peak-season warehouse congestion
• Customs clearance requirements
• Amazon labeling and packaging standards
• Inventory coverage before Black Friday and Christmas
• Replenishment plans for fast-moving products

The opening of ZAZ8 does not automatically guarantee faster delivery for every seller or ASIN. However, it does show the direction Amazon is taking: popular inventory will increasingly be positioned according to regional demand rather than stored in a small number of centralized locations.

Sellers that maintain stable stock levels and plan inbound shipments early will be in a better position to benefit from those network improvements.

Planning Amazon Shipments from China to Spain

For international sellers, Amazon’s domestic logistics investments are only one part of the supply chain.

Products must still move from the manufacturer to Spain, complete export and import procedures, and arrive at the designated Amazon facility in saleable condition. Delays at the origin, port, customs checkpoint, or final delivery stage can quickly disrupt replenishment plans.

Forest Shipping helps cross-border sellers arrange ocean freight, air freight, customs clearance, DDP shipping, and Amazon FBA delivery from China to Spain. By coordinating international transportation with inventory requirements and seasonal sales plans, sellers can reduce the risk of stockouts and avoid relying on expensive last-minute shipping.

Conclusion

The opening of the Amazon ZAZ8 distribution center represents more than a new warehouse in Zaragoza. It introduces a regional inventory model designed around high-demand products, continuous replenishment, and shorter delivery distances.

With an investment exceeding €100 million and plans to create up to 600 jobs, ZAZ8 will strengthen the Amazon logistics network in Spain while reinforcing Aragón’s position as an important national logistics hub.

For sellers, the development is another reminder that faster Amazon delivery in Spain begins long before a customer places an order. Accurate demand forecasting, dependable international transportation, and timely inventory replenishment will remain essential as Amazon continues bringing its stock closer to consumers.
