Label Type 3 is recommended when sellers want to combine the Transparency code with a GTIN barcode, such as a UPC or EAN.
The GTIN barcode should match the barcode used for FBA inbound receiving.
When to Use Label Type 4
Label Type 4 is recommended when sellers want to combine the Transparency code with an FNSKU or GTIN barcode.
This label must include the brand logo and clearly show the product condition, such as NEW or USED. The FNSKU or GTIN barcode should also match the barcode used for FBA inbound receiving.
When to Use Label Type 6
Label Type 6 is a smaller version of Label Type 4. It is designed for products with limited packaging space.
This label does not need to include a brand logo or a scan call-to-action.
Alternative Label Options
If sellers cannot use Label Types 3, 4, or 6, they may use Label Types 1, 2, 5, or a custom design. However, the supply chain labeling process must be carefully controlled.
Sellers should test the label distance in advance and make sure it follows the 2.5 cm close-placement rule.
Label Types 1 and 2
Label Types 1 and 2 are recommended when the product packaging already has a printed GTIN barcode.
These labels must include product identifier information to ensure that the Transparency code is correctly applied to the matching product. Brand owners can decide which product identifier to use, such as GTIN, SKU, or another internal product code.
Label Type 5
Label Type 5 is an enlarged version of Label Type 2 and follows the same general layout. Label Type 5 is only available for self-service PDF label downloads.
2. Apply the Label Correctly to Avoid FBA Receiving Failure
Choosing the right Transparency labels is only the first step. Sellers also need to follow the placement requirements carefully. Incorrect label placement may directly affect review, scanning, or inbound processing.
Requirements for Label Types 3, 4, and 6

These integrated labels are simpler to apply and have fewer placement risks.
The label must be fully attached to one flat surface of the package. It should not be folded over an edge, corner, or curve.
There must be at least 0.25 inches, or 7 mm, of space between the edge of the label and the edge of the package.
Requirements for Label Types 1, 2, and 5, Custom Labels, or Embedded Labels

These label types have more requirements and may be less efficient to manage.
The Transparency code and the GTIN or FNSKU barcode must be placed on the same flat surface of the product packaging.
Neither the Transparency code nor the product identifier barcode may be covered.
Both labels must be fully attached to the same side of the package. They should not be folded over edges, corners, seams, or uneven surfaces.
The distance between the Transparency code and the product identifier must meet the following requirements:
- Maximum distance: 1 inch, 25 mm, or 2.5 cm
- Minimum distance: 0.12 inches, 3 mm, or 0.3 cm
For cylindrical packaging, the label must be applied along the axis of the package while still meeting the distance requirements above.
Additional Notes for Custom or Embedded Label Designs
If a seller uses a custom Transparency label or embeds the label into the packaging design, the label must be clear, visible, and easy to scan.
Recommended placement priority is:
- Front of package
- Back of package
- Side of package
- Top of package
- Bottom of package
Sellers should avoid placing the label where it may cover key brand elements, important product information, or required compliance markings.
3. Build a Standard Labeling Process
