Amazon India Expands: 12 Fulfillment Centers, 6 Sortation Centers

Amazon India announced a major expansion of its logistics network ahead of the upcoming festival shopping season, adding 12 new fulfillment centers (FCs) and six sortation centers to increase warehousing and delivery capacity. The expansion provides roughly 8.6 million cubic feet of additional storage—about the volume of 100 Olympic-size swimming pools—to support festival season logistics and handle the surge in orders. This build-out underscores Amazon's continued investment in its fulfillment centers in India.

The new Amazon India fulfillment centers are located in key cities, including the Delhi National Capital Region (Delhi NCR), Bengaluru, Kolkata, Nagpur, Thane, Visakhapatnam, Hubballi, Hooghly, Hyderabad, Tiruvallur, and Krishnagiri.

Five of these cities—Hooghly, Tiruvallur, Krishnagiri, Visakhapatnam, and Hubballi—are receiving Amazon fulfillment centers for the first time. The six new sortation centers are in Hubli (Hubballi), Trivandrum, Rajpura, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, and Prayagraj, together covering about 500,000 square feet, further strengthening sortation centers India relies on to route parcels efficiently.

Amazon India noted that the timing aligns with sellers' preparations for the festive period. With 12 additional FCs and six new sortation hubs, Amazon expects to shorten delivery times, improve the customer experience, and help sellers respond efficiently to seasonal demand. The long-term goal remains to build and operate India’s leading logistics network—reaching every postal code with speed, safety, and reliability.

This expansion builds on additions made in June, when Amazon opened five more fulfillment centers and launched over 30 last-mile delivery stations in locations such as Panchkula, Nagpur, Hubli, Mohali, Howrah, and Indore. Amazon also announced an investment of INR 2,000 crore to strengthen operations, improve employee safety and welfare programs, and develop technologies for fulfillment and delivery.

The latest build-out is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs across functions such as fulfillment and sortation, as well as team leads and process assistants. Recently, Amazon created over 150,000 seasonal roles across more than 400 Indian cities, including thousands of women and more than 2,000 persons with disabilities.

According to JioStar's 2025 Festival Spending Intent Survey, roughly 92% of Indian consumers plan to maintain or increase spending during this year's festive period. That robust demand is a key backdrop for Amazon's continued logistics expansion across India.

With 12 new Amazon India fulfillment centers and six sortation centers nationwide, Amazon is positioning itself to deliver faster, more reliable service during the peak season—reinforcing festival season logistics capabilities for customers and sellers across the country.
