The importance of images cannot be overstated. Let's solidify your knowledge of Amazon Listing images together!
01 Basic Knowledge of Amazon Listing Images
General Requirements for Amazon Listing Images:
1. Images must accurately display the item for sale and match the product title.
2. The product image must occupy at least 85% of the image area, without pixelation or jagged edges.
3. Images should not contain nudity or sexually suggestive content. Children's and infant clothing, underwear, and swimwear should not be displayed on live models.
4. Images must not include any Amazon logos or trademarks, variants of Amazon logos or trademarks, or anything similar that could cause confusion. This includes but is not limited to any text or logos containing AMAZON, PRIME, ALEXA, or the Amazon Smile design.
5. Images must not include any marks used by Amazon Marketplace, variants of such marks, or anything similar that could cause confusion. This includes but is not limited to "Amazon's Choice," "Premium Choice," "Amazon Alexa," "Works with Amazon Alexa," "Best seller," or "Top seller." Refer to the trademark usage guidelines for more details.
6. File formats should be JPEG/JPG, PNG, TIFF, or GIF (JPG preferred).
7. The color mode should be RGB or CMYK (RGB preferred as CMYK can sometimes display with color shifts on Amazon's site).
8. The resolution should be at least 72 dpi.
9. The longest side of the image should be at least 1,000 pixels to enable the zoom function, which has been proven to increase sales.
10. The file's longest side should not exceed 10,000 pixels.
Standards for Amazon Listing Main Images:
1. Must use a pure white background (pure white blends with Amazon's search and product detail pages, RGB value: 255, 255, 255).
- Must be a professional photograph of the actual product. No unrelated accessories or props that could confuse buyers should be displayed.
2. The product in the main image must not have text, logos, borders, color blocks, watermarks, or other graphics.
- Should not include multiple angles of a single product.
- The entire product must be visible. The product should not touch the edge of the image or be cropped by it, except for jewelry (e.g., necklaces).
3. The displayed product must be unpackaged unless the packaging is an important feature.
- Human models should not be in a seated, kneeling, reclining, or lying position, but assistive technologies (wheelchairs, prosthetics, etc.) to express various mobilities are allowed.
- Main images for multi-piece clothing items and accessories must be photographed flat (not on a model).
- The main image for clothing accessories should not show any part of the human model, regardless of the model's appearance.
- Women's and men's clothing displayed in the main image must be worn by live models. All images of children's and infant clothing must be photographed flat (not on a model).
- Shoes displayed in the main image must show a single shoe angled to the left at 45 degrees.

02 Common Issues with Amazon Listing Images
To help you better understand image issues and their solutions, we've compiled some common cases for reference.
Case 1:
Images on the U.S. site have no violations, but a performance notification was received.
Issue Analysis:
The same ASIN is used to sell different products in different marketplaces.
The same ASIN sells different products in the U.S. and European sites. Due to the global image sharing principle, the European site displayed the U.S. site's product images. Thus, the images were reported on the European site, leading to the deletion of the images uploaded on the U.S. site and a performance notification for image violations.
Solution: Resolve the issue of using the same ASIN to sell different products in different marketplaces.
Case 2:
Product images contain information related to knockoff, authorized, or guaranteed.
Issue Analysis:
Images contain terms such as "authorized," "guaranteed," and "knockoff," leading to deletion by Amazon.
Amazon's global image policy will display such information on all marketplaces, and sellers using the same set of images cannot prevent misuse by other sellers.
Amazon's policy requires that images do not contain these phrases, such as "authorized," "guaranteed," and "knockoff."
Case 3:
The seller uploaded nine images in the backend, but only six are displayed on the frontend.
Issue Analysis:
The product belongs to the clothing category, where uploading a video will default to displaying six images and one video in the seventh slot.
For most categories, clicking any product image on the frontend will display all uploaded images, up to nine. However, for these four categories: clothing, shoes, jewelry, and watches, the system only displays seven images. If a video is uploaded, six images and one video will be displayed.
Amazon Marketplace requires at least one product image per detail page, recommending six images and one video. High-quality images help buyers easily evaluate the product.
Case 4:
The product image's Zoom function is not enabled, and images cannot be enlarged on the frontend.
Issue Analysis:
1. Zoom function activation conditions:
For optimal zoom effect on the detail page, the longest side of the file should be at least 1,600 pixels but not exceed 10,000 pixels. If this requirement is not met, the file's minimum size for zoom is 1,000 pixels.
2. The Zoom function for the Softline category has been disabled.
For products under the Softline category, the images will no longer have the Zoom function.
For more image issues, see the table below. Additionally, you can search for deletion reason keywords in the Amazon Seller Central to quickly understand solutions. 03 Advanced Features of Amazon Listing Images
Besides solving basic image issues, you surely want to know how images can help improve conversion rates. Let's introduce advanced features!
X Pack Display Function
X Pack display is related to the seller's item package quantity and the number of items. If the seller fills in this information and the product category supports X Pack display, the image will automatically show this information.

Image Display Example
Localized Image Function
To adapt to the browsing habits of non-English speaking customers, non-U.S. marketplaces have enabled localized image upload functionality. Images provided through this function will only display on the respective marketplace.
When using localized images, some issues may arise. Here's a common case.
Case:
The seller wants to display specific images for the Japan site. Although the upload shows successful and after waiting 24 hours, the frontend images on the Japan site still haven't updated.
Issue Analysis:
Uploading site-specific images increases the chances of winning image control. However, whether the images appear on the frontend depends on the overall image quality.
Solution:
1. Improve main image quality, swatch images, etc.
2. Do not use sub-accounts to upload. Currently, the direct upload feature for localized images in Seller Central is not supported for sub-accounts.
3. If images do not display after uploading, slightly modify the image and re-upload. Re-uploading identical images will trigger an error message indicating the image has already been uploaded.
Amazon Listing 3D/AR Display Function
- Data shows that adding AR or 3D displays to listings helps improve conversion rates.
- Products with AR and 3D browsing functions have 1.5-3.5 times higher conversion rates than others.
- Over 80% of consumers are likely to use these experience services again.
- 92% of consumers believe these features help in making purchase decisions.
- 95% of consumers find Amazon's experience easy to use.
Notes for Amazon Listing 3D Images
- Before uploading, ensure you have 2-10 reference photos and accurate product dimensions ready to submit with the 3D model.
- The 3D model must be in GLB or GLTF format.
- GLTF files can be validated using the Khronos Group's GLTF-Validator tool.
To check the tool, copy the link to your browser:
https://github.khronos.org/glTF-Validator/, to ensure the file meets technical requirements.
For more information on file requirements, refer to the 3D model technical requirements.
